Tavsif

  • Screen patients for MassHealth and programs such as ConnectorCare
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and the health system on financial matters
  • Explain billing issues, insurance benefits, coverage gaps, and payment options
  • Assist with statements, payment plans, estimates, financial assistance, public benefits, and managed care
  • Support Patient Access, Hospital Billing, Professional Billing, and Customer Service teams
  • Maintain annual Massachusetts Certified Application Counselor certification
  • Resolve financial, billing, and insurance questions by phone and in person
  • Explain Explanation of Benefits documents, insurance policies, and covered services
  • Coordinate with internal departments, providers, and external stakeholders to resolve concerns and coordinate benefits
  • Complete required financial counseling before scheduling procedures not covered by insurance
  • Provide timely estimates in accordance with CMS price transparency requirements
  • Collect prepayments, balances, copayments, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts
  • Educate eligible patients about payment plans and complete enrollment
  • Screen and approve patients for Financial Assistance and Charity Care
  • Meet with inpatient and outpatient patients about coverage applications and payment options
  • Support MassHealth and Medicaid Open Enrollment and process applications
  • Resolve Managed Care issues
  • Partner with Customer Service on account adjustments, statement production, and billing corrections
  • Complete assigned projects
  • Comply with corporate, government, cash-handling, collections, and customer service policies

Talablar

  • High school diploma required
  • Maintain annual Certified Application Counselor certification for Massachusetts
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Ability to learn newly introduced systems
  • Ability to complete training required to meet organizational standards
  • Two to three years of experience in financial counseling, social work, case work, patient access, or billing preferred
  • General understanding of hospital and professional billing procedures
  • EPIC experience preferred
  • Ability to travel between Burlington, Winchester, Peabody, and Beverly Hospitals
  • Availability for the 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. evening shift
  • CAC certification preferred
  • CPC certification is a plus
