Senior Quantitative Modeler – Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Fannie Mae is seeking a Senior Quantitative Modeler to develop mortgage-finance models for property valuation, home-price indexes, and forecasting. The role applies statistical, econometric, and programming methods to quantitative analysis and model risk assessment.

Description

  • Research mortgage-finance questions using theoretical and empirical methods with public and proprietary data, covering property valuation, home-price indexes, and forecasting.
  • Apply mathematical, statistical, and econometric methods to inform business strategies and initiatives.
  • Deliver modeling projects in accordance with company policies and established industry practices.
  • Perform or evaluate ad hoc quantitative analyses, modeling, and programming with SQL, R, or Python.
  • Apply advanced data-mining and statistical methods to generate insights, hypotheses, and recommendations.
  • Find opportunities to use quantitative approaches to strengthen business performance.
  • Design validation and testing approaches while evaluating model methodology, outputs, processes, quality, and risk.
  • Interpret model findings, track performance, and evaluate associated risks.
  • Explain complex technical topics through presentations, white papers, review reports, and work papers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least two years of experience in data analysis and modeling.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and adaptability when learning and responsibly applying emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent in statistics, physics, or mathematics is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing and modeling large datasets is preferred.
  • Experience producing technical documentation on data analysis and findings is preferred.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, GitHub, and AWS is preferred.
