Senior Partnerships Manager, Financial Institutions

Description

  • Create business development opportunities with Canadian financial institutions serving small, mid-market, and large enterprise segments.
  • Gather and share market intelligence through interactions with partners and sector associations.
  • Support strategic initiatives and develop customized opportunities, services, and products.
  • Use established networks to build lasting relationships with financial institutions, Crown corporations, pension funds, and private and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Coordinate virtual account teams comprising product, service, and knowledge specialists.
  • Research market needs, industry intelligence, and new business opportunities across the financial ecosystem.
  • Prepare materials, presentations, and business reports for management.
  • Track partnership portfolio performance against business targets and provide decision-making insights.
  • Engage partners and relationship leads in multifaceted business initiatives.
  • Create plans for prospective and existing accounts, build relationships with decision-makers, gather feedback, and recommend improvements.
  • Lead cross-organizational initiatives with a project-management approach.
  • Communicate reporting, program and product updates, monitoring information, and newsletters to partners.
  • Consolidate and synthesize information to guide business development strategies and achieve objectives.
  • Contribute to partnership strategy and deliver relationship plans for assigned financial-institution partners or regions.
  • Build trusted relationships with financial-institution partners and identify growth opportunities.
  • Tailor and implement EDC programs, products, and delivery models to partner needs.
  • Coordinate multi-party discussions and negotiations while managing risk parameters.
  • Work with cross-functional account teams on objectives, KPIs, and delivery plans.
  • Promote AI adoption to improve processes and support business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, commerce, business administration, international business, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in wholesale, institutional, or corporate banking; financial-institution coverage; trade finance; investor relations; or strategic B2B relationship management in financial services.
  • Partnerships Manager / BD 17: 5–7 years of experience.
  • Senior Partnerships Manager / BD 18: 7+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial-institution strategy, credit and lending practices, risk considerations, and organizational decision-making.
  • Established credibility with senior leaders at major Canadian financial institutions and across the financial-services ecosystem (L18).
  • Ability to contribute to strategy, execute complex relationship plans, coordinate complex programs or negotiations, and influence stakeholders in a matrixed environment (L18).
  • Strong understanding of EDC’s mandate, value proposition, and business lines, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
  • Experience helping design and implement financial-institution programs with shared objectives, KPIs, and governance.
  • Knowledge of international business, trade finance, and Canada’s export ecosystem.
  • Practical experience using AI tools for market research, account planning, and meeting preparation, with sound judgment when validating insights and protecting confidential information.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada when applying as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Able to meet required government security-screening requirements.
