Senior Enterprise Architect – Glasgow Hybrid

Lead enterprise and solution architecture across Sword Group’s energy, public-sector and finance clients. Align programmes, designs and suppliers with strategic technology standards.

Description

  • Shape and mature enterprise architecture strategies, roadmaps and capability models
  • Review architecture documentation and resolve significant gaps
  • Contribute to current-state and target-state architecture across business and technology domains
  • Turn strategic priorities into practical architecture guidance for programmes and projects
  • Keep architecture documentation accurate, consistent, accessible and useful
  • Serve as the senior architecture contact for assigned domains, programmes or investment areas
  • Work with project teams to understand business needs, delivery constraints and technology dependencies
  • Guide architectural decisions across projects and programmes
  • Ensure project decisions support enterprise strategy and target-state architecture
  • Review and assure architecture and solution designs from project teams, Solution Architects, vendors and delivery partners
  • Evaluate proposals against architecture principles, standards, guardrails and strategic roadmaps
  • Give constructive feedback and work with delivery teams to resolve architecture issues
  • Record material architecture decisions, exceptions, risks and recommendations
  • Apply Solution Architecture expertise to detailed proposals and designs
  • Contribute to requirements spanning multiple systems, domains or technology areas
  • Ensure designs address integration, data, security, infrastructure, operational support and maintainability
  • Develop relationships with senior stakeholders, programme teams, delivery managers, technical specialists and business representatives
  • Lead architecture discussions and clarify options and trade-offs
  • Explain complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Work collaboratively with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects and technical specialists
  • Work with external suppliers and challenge proposals when needed
  • Advise the Architecture Function Lead and broader technology leadership

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in senior Enterprise Architecture roles
  • Previous experience in Solution Architecture positions
  • Experience spanning strategic architecture and project-level solution delivery
  • Experience creating architecture strategies, roadmaps, capability models and target-state architectures
  • Strong knowledge of architecture governance and solution assurance
  • Experience reviewing and assuring designs from internal teams, suppliers and consultancy partners
  • Broad technical knowledge across applications, integration, cloud, infrastructure, data, security and operational support
  • Experience working directly with complex projects and programmes
  • Ability to identify architecture risks, dependencies and strategic misalignment
  • Strong senior stakeholder management and influencing capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, changing environment
  • Experience supporting transformation, digitalisation or technology-led change
  • Utilities industry experience is desirable
  • Experience supporting major capital investment or delivery programmes from an architecture perspective is desirable
  • Experience across IT and Operational Technology environments is desirable
  • Understanding of IT and OT system integration is desirable
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks and methods such as TOGAF is desirable
