Practice Group Billing Coordinator

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is seeking a billing coordinator in Montreal to manage practice-group pre-bills, final client invoices, CMS updates, e-billing, and time and disbursement transfers.

Description

  • Manage pre-bills and final billing for assigned practice groups.
  • Complete billing cycles monthly, quarterly, or as requested.
  • Review and revise pre-bills for accuracy.
  • Record pre-bill updates in the CMS.
  • Finalize and post completed pre-bills.
  • Prepare final invoices for lawyer review and approval.
  • Send approved invoices to clients or route them through the e-billing team.
  • Transfer time and disbursements in line with lawyer instructions, firm guidelines, and billing procedures.
  • Review billing-system records to maintain accurate, up-to-date client information.
  • Train newly hired Practice Assistants on billing procedures and workflows.
  • Provide coverage for other Practice Group Billing Coordinators.
  • Help Timekeepers and Practice Assistants meet filing requirements.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education plus post-secondary studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a law firm or professional-services setting in a finance or billing role.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and theory.
  • Strong understanding of e-billing technical requirements, procedures, and billing workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively while working with minimal supervision.
  • Well organized and able to perform accurately under time constraints.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • French-English oral and written bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet month-end and year-end deadlines.
