Managing Director, Head of Technology Process Re-Engineering

Lead State Street’s global technology process mapping and redesign capability, strengthening transparency, controls, and operating efficiency across regulated technology operations.

Description

  • Create and lead a GTS capability focused on technology process mapping, re-engineering, and operational transparency
  • Report to the GTS Head of Process Improvement and Risk Remediation
  • Set the standards, methodology, taxonomy, tooling strategy, and adoption model for documenting critical technology processes
  • Maintain end-to-end views of priority GTS processes, covering activities, roles, systems, handoffs, controls, pain points, and performance measures
  • Recruit and lead a small team of process-mapping professionals across two global locations
  • Analyze processes systematically to uncover duplication, fragmentation, manual workarounds, unclear ownership, control gaps, and simplification opportunities
  • Work with process owners and transformation teams to design future-state processes, clarify roles and decision rights, and create implementation roadmaps
  • Define measurable re-engineering outcomes, including lower complexity, faster cycle times, stronger control alignment, clearer accountability, and improved management reporting
  • Establish governance routines that keep process maps current, validated, owned, and aligned with standards and control expectations
  • Prepare executive reporting on process coverage, mapping maturity, risks, improvement opportunities, open decisions, and progress
  • Engage senior stakeholders across technology, risk, operations, and delivery teams
  • Lead evidence-based discussions, resolve ownership ambiguity, challenge legacy practices, and drive adoption of redesigned processes

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience leading technology process transformation, process re-engineering, business architecture, operational excellence, technology transformation, or risk-aligned remediation initiatives in large organizations
  • Senior leadership experience, preferably in financial services, technology, operations, risk management, or another highly regulated environment
  • Expertise in BPMN, SIPOC, value stream mapping, Lean, Six Sigma, business capability mapping, operating model design, or related disciplines
  • Experience developing process standards, governance models, repositories, reusable templates, maturity assessments, and executive reporting for technology process improvement programs
  • Proven success working with globally distributed technology teams and influencing senior stakeholders across GTS, risk, operations, and business-aligned technology functions
  • Ability to define and scale process mapping, process architecture, and process re-engineering capabilities
  • Ability to identify process inefficiencies and turn analysis into redesign options, implementation plans, and measurable results
  • Ability to engage senior leaders, challenge constructively, build consensus, and secure decisions across organizational boundaries
  • Strong knowledge of process design, ownership, controls, metrics, evidence, operational resilience, and control environments
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to assess process data, control evidence, performance indicators, organizational handoffs, and operating model constraints
  • Ability to embed standards, strengthen accountability, and sustain improved practices across global technology teams
