Engineer III, Network Performance - Fort Washington, PA (Hybrid)

Verizon seeks a network performance engineer to optimize LTE and 5G RAN systems in a hybrid Fort Washington role. The position covers RF testing, KPI analysis, drive testing, troubleshooting, and cell-site integration.

Description

  • Deliver technical guidance for network transformation, service issues, optimization, and maintenance
  • Lead wireless testing, field execution, parameter tuning, and node migration across multi-vendor LTE and 5G networks
  • Improve network KPIs to maintain service quality and user experience
  • Optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain network systems and applications
  • Assess coverage, identify gaps, recommend enhancements, and support solution implementation
  • Create, manage, and update problem-tracking tickets across multiple systems
  • Gather scanner data and assess RSRP, SINR, and PCI pollution for indoor RF coverage
  • Compare pre- and post-change KPIs and resolve RAN issues involving dropped calls, low throughput, interference, and handoff failures
  • Analyze VoLTE and 5G drive tests to improve accessibility, retainability, MOS, and audio performance
  • Carry out multi-band LTE and 5G optimization activities
  • Apply RF shaping and parameter changes to balance traffic and increase capacity
  • Review service-performance trends and determine root causes
  • Conduct drive and walk testing, then process and analyze logs and KPIs
  • Assess Layer 3 drive-test data and develop network optimization strategies
  • Troubleshoot in-building system issues in collaboration with senior engineers
  • Oversee customer eFEMTO deployments and provide technical support for customer-facing issues
  • Coordinate investigations and testing with regional, area, and headquarters teams
  • Deliver technical analysis, troubleshooting, and training support to markets and regions
  • Optimize 5G and LTE RAN networks
  • Investigate and resolve customer service complaints
  • Support new cell-site integration, including small cells and indoor and outdoor DAS systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least four years of relevant work experience
  • At least three years of relevant experience gained through professional or military work
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, mentoring colleagues, and providing technical oversight
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills in demanding field environments
  • Clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical presentations
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 25% of the time
  • Advanced knowledge of 4G and 5G technologies
  • At least five years of hands-on RF field testing, optimization, and wireless network deployment experience
  • Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards covering CDMA, EVDO, LTE, VoLTE, CBRS, and 5G technologies including mmWave, C-Band, DSS, and Clean NR
  • Experience working with Samsung and Nokia macro- and small-cell OEM platforms
  • Proficiency with drive-test and log-processing tools such as TEMS, XCAL, XCAP, JDSU, WindCatcher, TrueCall, xLPT, IRIS, and Optis Analyzer
  • Familiarity with RF planning and reporting tools including Atoll, MapInfo Professional, and Google Earth Pro
  • Experience tuning and validating propagation models
  • Customer-focused approach and adaptability in a fast-changing network environment
  • Flexibility to support rotational requirements in a technical operation
