Senior Structural Engineer III, Manufacturing — Cincinnati

Lead structural design and project delivery for manufacturing facility infrastructure at KFI Engineers. Serve as discipline lead and Engineer of Record across client projects.

Description

  • Lead several concurrent projects as the structural discipline lead.
  • Complete structural engineering calculations.
  • Guide the development of project drawings.
  • Assign design work and plan project resources.
  • Review work for quality and mentor team members.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
  • Prepare scope estimates and keep work within the agreed scope and project budget.
  • Oversee construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Use sound structural engineering principles in project work.
  • Conduct field surveys and inspections, record findings, verify existing conditions, and incorporate field data into designs.
  • Coordinate project work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and direction to team members and subcontractors.
  • Represent KFI at meetings, site visits, client discussions, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
  • Contribute to business development by preparing proposals and meeting prospective and existing customers.
  • Help prepare estimates for assigned scopes of work.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering construction practices.
  • Strong structural design experience in manufacturing settings, such as food and beverage or chemical facilities.
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA.
  • A consistent record of combining design work and/or project management successfully.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and earn credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to explain complex information to varied audiences, turn ideas into actionable recommendations, and positively influence outcomes.
  • Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Domestic travel may involve one to two days at a time and typically totals no more than 10% to 15% over the year.
