Employment Solicitor – Charity Sector (Hybrid)

Employment Solicitor advising charity and third-sector clients on workplace issues, disputes, tribunal matters and contracts. The role combines legal casework, client relationship management and business development within Stone King’s purpose-driven practice.

Description

  • Handle complex, high-value legal matters for charity-sector clients
  • Advise current and prospective clients on employment law issues
  • Develop and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Work collaboratively across the employment team and wider firm to provide excellent client service
  • Partner with the HR Consultancy team on client matters
  • Contribute to business development through networking, thought leadership and client engagement
  • Find practical ways to strengthen client service and improve working practices
  • Manage matters accurately, commercially and within agreed deadlines
  • Uphold professional obligations and regulatory requirements
  • Pursue ongoing development and keep current with legal and sector updates
  • Run an individual Employment Tribunal caseload with supervision when required
  • Review and draft employment contracts
  • Advise on disciplinary and grievance processes, TUPE, discrimination, whistleblowing, employment status and pensions
  • Draft tailored agreements, including secondment and consultancy contracts
  • Support termination negotiations and prepare settlement agreements
  • Provide advice within the Charity Commission regulatory framework
  • Prepare Tribunal cases and conduct advocacy before final hearings when appropriate

Requirements

  • Practical experience in employment law
  • Genuine interest in advising charity clients
  • Working knowledge of disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Working knowledge of TUPE matters
  • Experience drafting contracts
  • Experience preparing Tribunal cases
  • Motivation and capability to support business development initiatives
  • Background advising charities or other third-sector organisations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the confidence to challenge constructively and suggest alternatives
  • A solutions-oriented mindset focused on improving processes and outcomes
  • Highly organised, with ownership of tasks and reliable delivery against deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas and influence decisions
  • Flexibility when managing competing workloads and supporting colleagues
  • Collaborative approach and strong team-first attitude
