Legal Support Manager, Trial Division
Lead legal support operations for the Oregon Department of Justice Trial Division, overseeing paraprofessionals, eDiscovery policy, training, and case support. This full-time onsite role is based in Salem or Portland, Oregon.

- Supervise a small team of paraprofessionals, including one subordinate supervisor
- Manage recruitment, hiring, promotions, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions
- Work with Trial Division leaders to address and resolve employee grievances
- Create, implement, and assess policies, procedures, and operational improvements for eDiscovery and related platforms
- Identify process improvements and lead eDiscovery changes aligned with Trial Division objectives
- Assess training requirements, coordinate or deliver development activities, and support eDiscovery training initiatives
- Take part in case staffing with attorneys and legal teams
- Check paraprofessional work for accuracy and compliance
- Confirm that documentation, evidence, and exhibits satisfy legal standards
- Balance and reassign workloads within the unit
- Audit paraprofessional billing, invoices, and eDiscovery contracts for accuracy and compliance
- Analyze data, produce requested management reports, and advise on fiscal and resource allocation
- Provide direct paraprofessional support during workload surges, staffing shortages, or urgent operational situations
- Support complex or sensitive assignments that require advanced coordination or problem-solving
- Handle additional responsibilities that advance Trial Division effectiveness and support emerging projects
- Create and carry out affirmative action plans while promoting a respectful, inclusive workplace

- At least five years of lead, supervisory, or progressively related experience, or two years of related experience plus a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license
- Two years of experience as a high-level legal support professional may be preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with eDiscovery
- Experience leading supervisory and represented employees
- Experience introducing and managing organizational change
- Experience directly managing or supervising legal support professionals at a high level
- Experience revising and putting policies and procedures into practice
- Communicate effectively and professionally across all levels of an organization
- Professional experience working collaboratively as part of a team
- Experience evaluating and coaching individuals toward production and quality objectives
- Experience collaborating, building teams, troubleshooting, and resolving operational needs in a team setting
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Commitment to strong professional conduct and ethical standards
