Senior BI Engineer
Build Power BI and MicroStrategy dashboards, semantic models, and analytics for Williams-Sonoma’s global home retail and digital commerce platforms.
Descriere
- Translate business needs into scalable reporting and analytics solutions
- Create and improve Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical tools
- Build and maintain semantic models with measures, dimensions, relationships, KPIs, and business definitions
- Develop MicroStrategy reports, dashboards, scorecards, and related reporting solutions
- Design and use MicroStrategy schema objects, Intelligent Cubes, caching, aggregate tables, and VLDB settings
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries across large enterprise datasets
- Use Snowflake, Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and other enterprise data platforms
- Turn business requirements into data models, semantic models, reports, and analytical solutions
- Improve performance across dashboards, SQL, semantic models, and reports
- Maintain consistent business metrics, KPIs, definitions, and calculation logic
- Support AI agents and natural-language analytics through governed business semantic layers
- Enrich AI-driven analytics with metadata, descriptions, synonyms, relationships, and business context
- Work with Data Engineering and AI teams to deliver trusted, governed enterprise data
- Maintain data quality, security, access controls, lineage, and consistency
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes
- Support deployments and production releases across reporting platforms
- Review colleagues’ solutions and uphold engineering standards
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge and practices
- Guide solutions from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support
Cerințe
- At least five years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related role
- Hands-on Power BI experience, including semantic models, DAX, Power Query, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience developing MicroStrategy reports and dashboards
- Knowledge of MicroStrategy schema objects, metrics, filters, prompts, Intelligent Cubes, caching, and performance tuning
- Strong SQL skills and experience with large enterprise datasets
- Practical experience with Snowflake
- Experience with Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, or comparable modern data platforms
- Knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modeling, including fact tables, dimensions, star schemas, and snowflake schemas
- Knowledge of semantic layers, business measures, KPIs, metadata, and relationships
- Experience optimizing report and query performance
- Understanding of data quality, governance, security, lineage, and role-based access control (RBAC)
- Ability to independently investigate complex reporting and data issues
- Ability to work directly with business users and translate their questions into technical solutions
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience
- Preferred: experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Copilot, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, Python, PySpark, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, MicroStrategy REST APIs, SDK integrations, MicroStrategy administration, or retail, e-commerce, supply chain, merchandising, customer, or finance data
