Senior Machine Learning Engineer, 3D Sensor Simulation

Description

  • Train and validate machine learning models to make simulated lidar, radar, and camera data more realistic in autonomous vehicle simulation pipelines.
  • Work with Synthetic Data and HIL Sim teams to integrate 3D Gaussian Splatting and NeRF-based reconstruction across sensor modalities.
  • Create and curate datasets from real and simulated sensor data, using generative AI techniques for augmentation.
  • Work with simulation verification and validation and perception engineers to define sensor realism metrics and address sim-to-real gaps in autonomy.
  • Mentor engineers and interns.
  • Set best practices for training and deploying machine learning on Zoox sensor data.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a technical lead.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing machine learning models in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Industry experience applying machine learning to sensor data, including lidar, radar, and/or cameras.
  • Strong understanding of customizing, tuning, and validating machine learning training pipelines.
  • Experience with generative methods such as diffusion, flow matching, or variational autoencoders.
  • Experience with 3D reconstruction, including 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, or differentiable rendering.
  • Prior experience developing autonomy for autonomous vehicles or other robotics and computer vision applications.
