Lead Backend Software Engineer, Generative AI — Uberall, Remote in Hungary

Lead backend development for Uberall’s LLM-powered search products. Build dependable, scalable systems and guide engineering delivery for AI-enabled capabilities.

Description

  • Own the design and operation of backend services connected to LLMs and AI search platforms
  • Develop rigorous methods for assessing the quality and consistency of generated outputs
  • Make LLM features observable, testable, cost-conscious, and resilient across model and provider changes
  • Help address nondeterminism, latency, rate limits, data quality, and graceful degradation in generative AI systems
  • Track advances in LLMs and AI search and evaluate their practical value
  • Define the architecture for AI search products
  • Lead the delivery of new product capabilities
  • Strengthen the engineering team’s growth and execution
  • Turn customer needs and emerging generative AI techniques into reliable, scalable, maintainable backend services
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building or running production systems that use LLMs, generative AI, or external AI services
  • Knowledge of evaluating and monitoring LLM features beyond conventional deterministic tests
  • Experience creating dependable third-party API integrations that account for cost, latency, rate limits, observability, and provider outages
  • Ability to identify problems suited to AI and distinguish them from those better addressed through conventional software
  • Exposure to prompt management, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, or LLM evaluation frameworks is useful but optional
  • Training foundation models is not part of the role
  • Background in backend engineering and technical leadership
