External Communications Manager, Creative Content and Reputation — H&R Block

H&R Block seeks an external communications manager to shape brand reputation through public relations, media relations, video, and creative content. The role leads integrated campaigns across social, digital, owned, and earned media channels in an onsite setting.

Description

  • Lead external communications programs that increase brand awareness and safeguard the company’s reputation
  • Plan and deliver public relations, media relations, and enterprise storytelling initiatives
  • Develop compelling content for social, digital, video, and earned media platforms
  • Create video productions from initial concept and storyboarding through filming, editing, and post-production
  • Produce channel-specific creative assets, including graphics, motion design, and short-form video
  • Keep communications content and campaigns consistent with brand standards and messaging requirements
  • Collaborate across functions to coordinate communications across owned, earned, and social channels
  • Track brand reputation, flag potential risks, and assist with crisis communications as needed
  • Evaluate content and campaign results to improve reach, engagement, and overall performance
  • Oversee external agencies, media partners, communications vendors, and related projects

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, or a comparable field
  • Proven video production expertise, including filming, editing, and post-production with Premiere Pro, After Effects, or comparable tools
  • Advanced graphic design ability and proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Capability to develop content independently
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful content creation across social, digital, and multimedia channels
  • Experience with media relations, storytelling, and integrated communications campaign execution
  • Outstanding written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to make complex subjects understandable to varied audiences
  • Skill in balancing competing priorities, meeting demanding deadlines, and influencing cross-functional partners
  • Experience with consumer brands or financial services organizations preferred
  • Experience working with public relations or creative agencies preferred
  • Experience using performance data or social insights to improve communications strategy preferred
  • Familiarity with reputation-monitoring or social-listening platforms preferred
