Executive Director, Business Development (United States Remote)

Lead North American business development for Worldwide Clinical Trials, a global contract research organization. Oversee account leadership, sales strategy, client partnerships, and growth across clinical research services.

Description

  • Lead Account Directors across North America and represent Worldwide Clinical Trials with designated strategic accounts.
  • Build durable, mutually beneficial relationships with clients and business partners.
  • Define sales territories, account plans, and targets to support revenue growth.
  • Drive team and individual North American sales goals through proactive promotion of WCT services.
  • Source prospective customers and pursue leads for potential clinical research business.
  • Create and execute growth and retention strategies for individual accounts, territories, and key clients.
  • Partner with internal Operations teams to develop new business opportunities.
  • Support the creation and delivery of marketing plans.
  • Present WCT services to strategic accounts and prospective clients.
  • Translate key account needs into potential new WCT business.
  • Share market intelligence covering competitors, services, acquisitions, and pricing.
  • Ensure Account Directors maintain accurate client contact and mailing records in the CRM.
  • Contribute to proposals, pricing activities, and database requirements.
  • Involve senior management in major presentations and RFI, MSA, and PPA discussions.
  • Resolve issues and develop solutions within the role’s scope of responsibility.
  • Serve as a client advocate while advancing WCT’s mission and core values.
  • Complete additional management-assigned responsibilities to address business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or MBA degree in business or life sciences.
  • At least 10 years of experience in clinical research, CRO, or a comparable industry.
  • Strong verbal presentation abilities.
  • Strong written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-territory management skills.
  • Strong strategic planning capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Strong cognitive abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory and nationally.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and understand corporate goals and policies.
