Part-Time Real Estate Accounting Manager in Houston (Hybrid)

Part-time Accounting Manager responsible for multi-entity close, reconciliations, property accounting, and financial reporting at Fresh Start Home Services / SellToJR.com. Leads a virtual accounting team and serves as the primary liaison with the external CPA.

Descriere

  • Manage the monthly close for all entities and meet established deadlines
  • Direct the virtual accounting team by allocating work, setting standards, and reviewing deliverables before completion
  • Reconcile all bank, credit card, and loan accounts across every set of books each month
  • Accurately record flip properties, rental properties, and fixed assets, including depreciation and refinancing activity
  • Maintain records for private notes and loans, including interest, outstanding balances, and payment schedules
  • Reconcile Buildium rental and property management activity to the company accounting records
  • Record and monitor intercompany transactions between entities
  • Approve vendor invoices and process routine payments according to company controls
  • Prepare weekly cash position reports, monthly and quarterly financial packages, and property-level P&Ls
  • Produce ad hoc reports for leadership
  • Act as the primary contact for the external CPA and maintain tax-ready books throughout the year
  • Spot issues early, resolve discrepancies, and communicate material concerns to leadership
  • Document accounting procedures and improve systems to reduce errors
  • Complete the monthly close for all entities by the 10th business day of the following month
  • Submit weekly cash position reports every Monday
  • Provide quarterly financial packages within 15 business days after quarter-end
  • Respond to CPA requests within two business days
  • Keep fixed-asset and depreciation schedules current and reconciled to the books

Cerințe

  • At least five years of accounting experience, including ownership of the monthly close
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting, separate books, intercompany transactions, and consolidated reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of fixed assets and depreciation
  • Experience reviewing and correcting work completed by others
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Availability for a fixed weekly schedule, including one to two days in the Houston office
  • Real estate, property management, or real estate investment accounting experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Buildium or comparable property management accounting software is strongly preferred
  • Experience accounting for notes payable, notes receivable, and private lending is strongly preferred
  • Experience managing remote or offshore team members is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is strongly preferred; CPA certification or progress toward it is a plus
