Workers' Compensation Claims Representative – Ohio and Indiana

Manage lost-time workers' compensation claims for Sedgwick's insurance clients. Handle Ohio and Indiana claims, including investigations, settlements, adjudication, and client communications.

Description

  • Review lost-time claims for clients and determine applicable benefits
  • Adjudicate claims continuously in line with service standards, industry practices, and client requirements
  • Advance claims through action plans toward timely, appropriate resolution
  • Investigate claims and collect information to assess exposure
  • Negotiate settlements within assigned authority
  • Update claimants and clients on claim activity and processing
  • Submit claims reports to excess carriers
  • Address direction requests promptly and professionally

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • At least three years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required
  • Knowledge of and experience with workers' compensation
  • Knowledge of Ohio and Indiana jurisdictional requirements
  • Indiana licensure is preferred but not required
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Professional certification relevant to the line of business is preferred
  • Ability to analyze and process lost-time claims
  • Ability to investigate claims and collect information to assess exposure
  • Ability to negotiate settlements within assigned authority
  • Ability to communicate claim activity and processing to claimants and clients
  • Ability to report claims to excess carriers and respond to direction requests
  • Clear, conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong judgment, troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and discretionary skills
  • Ability to manage work-related stress and multiple priorities
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Computer keyboarding skills
