Summer Data Scientist Intern at ICF (Hybrid)

Join ICF’s utility energy-efficiency and load-management programs as a Data Scientist Intern. Maintain predictive models and analyze large customer, energy-use, and marketing datasets.

Description

  • Support utility energy-efficiency and load-management initiatives
  • Maintain and improve predictive analytics models
  • Use advanced statistical and computational methods
  • Integrate analytical work with supporting IT systems to advance business objectives
  • Analyze large datasets covering customer behavior, energy use, and marketing performance
  • Select suitable analytical methods for each problem
  • Write and run analytical code
  • Verify the accuracy of analytical results
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Collaborate with technologists and business stakeholders on complex data challenges

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree completed, plus enrollment verification or at least 9 completed master’s credits in data science or a related field
  • Ability to pass any required background checks, which may include drug screening
  • Ability to perform all work in the United States as required by the contract
  • Proficiency in R, Python, statistical modeling, data manipulation, or data visualization
  • Familiarity with Git and version control practices, including branching, pull requests, and repository management
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying relational databases
  • Solid understanding of predictive modeling methods and machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with Docker for creating and deploying containerized machine learning environments and applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Databricks, Azure Batch, and Azure Blob/Table Storage
  • Experience handling large-scale datasets and developing scalable data solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong organization and the ability to prioritize and complete tasks under pressure
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and solutions to nontechnical client stakeholders
