Senior Payroll Analyst, United States Hybrid

Pretium Enterprise Services seeks a Senior Payroll Analyst to manage accurate multi-state payroll processing in a hybrid United States role. The position covers Workday payroll administration, audits, deductions, garnishments, reconciliations, and W-2 processing.

Description

  • Manage full-cycle, in-house payroll for a multi-entity, multi-state organization across bi-weekly and semi-monthly cycles.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws while keeping payroll data current in Workday.
  • Process payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, retirement plans, and other withholdings accurately.
  • Administer and audit time and attendance records.
  • Manage and audit garnishments, including coordination with related vendors.
  • Collaborate across the organization to meet deadlines and preserve payroll data accuracy.
  • Answer employee payroll questions by phone and through the dedicated payroll email.
  • Investigate payroll questions and resolve processing issues.
  • Support reconciliations, payroll balancing, and tax activities, including W-2 processing.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and review periodic reports to support accurate, timely W-2 distribution.
  • Issue or reissue physical checks, replacement checks, and direct deposits when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with payroll, wage, and hour laws and recognized best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least four years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state, matrixed organization, with substantial payroll compliance and auditing responsibilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and charts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including identifying root causes and implementing solutions under time pressure.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the flexibility to tailor information for stakeholders with different levels of payroll knowledge.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to support stakeholders across career levels and backgrounds.
  • Experience working in a high-growth environment with ongoing processing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • APA Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or progress toward one of these certifications.
  • Experience with Workday and/or ADP Smart Compliance for tax, wage payment, employment verification, and garnishment administration.
