Payroll Advisor - St Albans (Hybrid)

Manage complex hospitality payrolls for Moore Kingston Smith across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles. The hybrid St Albans role covers compliance, client service, variable pay, and multi-site payroll operations.

Description

  • Manage complete payroll delivery for a portfolio of complex clients across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles.
  • Process tronc and non-tronc structures, National Minimum Wage compliance, salary sacrifice, split shifts, unsocial hours, and variable pay.
  • Oversee large volumes of starters and leavers, including zero-hours, casual, seasonal, and agency workers.
  • Validate rota and time and attendance data while resolving discrepancies accurately and promptly.
  • Submit RTI returns, respond to HMRC correspondence, and administer pension auto-enrolment.
  • Support payrolls spanning multiple sites, brands, and entities with different pay rules.
  • Provide clients with guidance on holiday pay, Working Time Regulations, and statutory payments.
  • Complete year-end activities, including P60 production, final submissions, and reconciliations.
  • Manage payment files through Bacstel and Caxton, using IRIS Payroll Professional for payroll administration.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor and Payroll Director.
  • Develop dependable working relationships with hospitality-sector clients.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in a bureau or client-facing payroll setting.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including RTI, statutory payments, auto-enrolment, and Working Time Regulations.
  • Experience integrating rota and time and attendance systems.
  • Confidence using IRIS Payroll Professional or a similar platform, along with Excel.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to manage a client portfolio independently.
  • Practical experience with tronc, National Minimum Wage compliance, and variable pay is desirable.
  • A CIPP qualification is advantageous but not required.
  • Based in or near St Albans.
  • Ability to work hybrid with three days in the office.
