Operations Manager, Venture Studio — Los Angeles Hybrid

Lead operational systems for a private design studio and its founder cohorts, spanning finance, insurance, legal coordination, onboarding, and portfolio company rhythms.

Description

  • Support fundraising workflows, investor records, program budgets, and payment milestones for participating companies
  • Help early-stage companies launch effectively and maintain progress against agreed timelines
  • Review monthly financial statements with external accountants and manage budgets for the studio and its projects
  • Oversee insurance applications, quote assessments, underwriting, renewals, and broker-issued certificates
  • Prepare agendas, gather inputs, and drive follow-ups for weekly operations meetings, pipeline reviews, and monthly business reviews
  • Manage project-team onboarding and offboarding, including tools, accounts, and administrative needs
  • Coordinate with project teams and external counsel on intellectual property, commercial terms, privacy policies, consulting agreements, and NDAs
  • Oversee entity registrations, compliance-agent relationships, and third-party service providers
  • Meet with project leads, close outstanding workstreams, and escalate material issues to leadership
  • Act as the primary operational contact for project teams
  • Organize events and professional development programs

Requirements

  • 4–8 or more years in operations, chief of staff, or program management roles
  • Substantial experience at a venture fund, private equity firm, accelerator, or startup
  • Self-directed decision-making ability without relying on an assigned task queue
  • Sound judgment about what to decide independently, communicate, or escalate
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and build new processes from the ground up
  • Ability to interpret monthly P&Ls, manage close calendars, maintain budgets, and investigate anomalies
  • Working knowledge of entity formation, insurance, registrations, and collaboration with external counsel and accountants
  • Strong technical fluency with macOS and Google Workspace, including Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Docs
  • Discretion and a clear understanding of confidential information
  • Excellent spoken communication and relationship-management skills
