Full-Time Capital Management Analyst – Sandton (Hybrid)

Support capital planning, regulatory reporting and capital efficiency across Absa’s African banking subsidiaries. Partner with treasury, finance and risk teams on governance, forecasting and shareholder-return analysis.

Description

  • Oversee capital planning, reporting and optimisation for 10 subsidiaries across 9 African markets.
  • Assess subsidiary capital plans, challenge assumptions and escalate material changes, emerging risks and capital adequacy issues.
  • Consolidate subsidiary plans for monthly actuals reporting and forecasting cycles.
  • Create management information and analytics to monitor capital adequacy.
  • Track capital utilisation, capital use, return profiles and performance against approved plans.
  • Prepare and present capital management reports for treasury, risk, capital management and other governance committees.
  • Maintain capital management reports, dashboards and supporting analysis.
  • Monitor capital adequacy, foreign exchange exposure and emerging risks affecting subsidiary resilience.
  • Support Country ALCOs, ICAAP, Recovery and Resolution Planning, stress testing and ACS buffer-setting activities.
  • Assess Single Borrower Limit excess requests and proposals to retain surplus capital.
  • Coordinate dividend payment schedules, approvals and related cash flows.
  • Support recapitalisation through capital instruments and equity injections.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to return on equity, capital efficiency and balance sheet optimisation.
  • Perform peer analysis and benchmarking.
  • Coordinate Cost of Equity setting and track returns against Cost of Equity thresholds.
  • Support regulatory capital submissions, reconciliations, approvals and BA610 capital reporting.
  • Develop relationships with Treasury, Finance, Risk and Business stakeholders.
  • Improve capital management frameworks, methodologies and reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in banking, treasury, capital management, finance or regulatory reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Basel capital frameworks and banking regulations.
  • Experience with management reporting, forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and management information tools proficiency.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Understanding of banking operating models, capital allocation and financial resource management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory capital requirements and Basel III and IV.
