Director of C4ISR Business Development

Lead growth for BAE Systems’ defense communications and secure networking portfolio by building DoD customer relationships, shaping strategic pursuits, and developing partnerships.

Description

  • Identify growth opportunities in adjacent markets and expand the product line from its technology base toward $800M+ within five years.
  • Develop solutions for future Warfighter needs in communications and secure networking.
  • Identify domestic and international markets to drive growth.
  • Build customer relationships, recommend investment priorities, form strategic partnerships, and set a growth vision.
  • Use company resources to address customer challenges and serve as a trusted partner.
  • Manage an annual orders pipeline for strategic business capture, with emphasis on competitive pursuits.
  • Help the AC&S business development team and business leaders shape product line strategy using customer and competitor intelligence, market trends, and prospective customer acquisitions.
  • Lead market campaigns that create capture opportunities and support business growth.
  • Contribute to the C4ISR Business Development leadership team.
  • Advise internal and external decision makers as a thought leader.
  • Share customer insights with executive leadership and advocate for actions that support growth.
  • Lead customer engagements and build relationships.
  • Shape requirements so customers value BAE Systems’ differentiating capabilities.
  • Recommend internal investments that align with customer needs and requirements.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Develop business cases, strategic partnerships, technology development plans, price-to-win analyses, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Run competitive intelligence campaigns to track threats and opportunities.
  • Represent BAE Systems’ capabilities through speaking engagements, briefings, and thought leadership.
  • Apply business development and Business Winning processes.
  • Improve campaign efforts through independent reviews and assessments.
  • Manage tactics, actions, new business funding, and related IR&D expenditures.
  • Support business strategy and growth reviews with regular reports and status updates.
  • Maintain business development, capture, and program management skills through training.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience in the defense industry, military service, or related work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience in the defense industry, military service, or related work.
  • Secret clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • BS in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Record of leading successful strategic pursuits, DoD acquisition, and/or operational service.
  • Knowledge of government and DoD contracting, current acquisition trends, and customer buying behavior.
  • Established customer and industry relationships in the Army Aviation community, including platform primes, PAE Maneuver Air, and the Combat Capabilities Development Command C5ISR Center.
  • Familiarity with airborne tactical radios, U/VHF, BLOS, and MUOS communications.
  • Experience with Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) of COMSEC products.
  • Ability to write unsolicited white papers that generate revenue streams.
  • Ability to quickly learn about competitors and anticipate their behavior in domestic and international military markets.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and 10+ years of leadership experience.
  • Preferred: Top Secret clearance.
  • Preferred: Phase review chairman certification or ability to obtain it quickly.
  • Preferred: Shipley assessed Capture Team Lead Belt.
  • Preferred: Business development leadership for large competitive opportunities valued above $200M.
  • Preferred: Understanding of and experience contributing to an Integrated Business Plan.
