Senior Engineering Manager, Game Experience

Lead C++ gameplay engineering and live-service teams at Zwift. Guide development of cross-platform experiences for the company’s cycling, running, and fitness platform.

Tavsif

  • Manage a senior team of 6–8 engineers directly.
  • Coach engineers and guide their career growth and performance.
  • Hire engineers and build a culture of independent, high-quality engineering.
  • Oversee the technical direction of C++ gameplay systems.
  • Guide scalable architecture, cross-platform performance, memory use, and long-term technical health.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle for live-service game features.
  • Promote automated testing, feature flags, phased rollouts, and real-time telemetry.
  • Lead team workflows using agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Prioritize incoming requests and maintain the team roadmap.
  • Remove blockers, address risks, and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Coordinate work across engineering, game design, product and program management, production, UX, QA, and hardware teams.
  • Set technical strategy and define project milestones.

Talablar

  • At least 4 years in software engineering management, including direct management, coaching, and development of engineers in the games industry.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience in game development.
  • Strong command of C++ and commercial or custom game engines.
  • Knowledge of game performance, profiling, memory management, and multi-platform game architecture.
  • Experience operating and maintaining features in a live-service game.
  • Experience with production quality, operational monitoring, phased deployments, feature flags, and support.
  • Ability to independently set technical strategy and team roadmaps.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and cross-team dependencies.
  • Ability to lead game engineering teams using modern agile practices.
  • Experience running sprints, managing delivery risks, and setting dependable release schedules.
  • Bonus: Experience connecting game clients with backend services and persistence layers, and working with iOS, iPadOS, and Android ecosystems.
  • Bonus: Experience developing console games.
  • Bonus: Experience using AI-assisted development tools and auditing code generated by AI agents.
  • Bonus: Experience with external hardware controllers or physical inputs.
  • Bonus: Experience with live-game experiments, A/B testing, and analytics tools or data pipelines such as Amplitude and Databricks.
  • Interest in products for cyclists, runners, and fitness enthusiasts.
