USAA Injury Claims Adjuster

Adjust bodily injury and related vehicle damage claims for USAA members. Investigate liability, assess coverage, negotiate settlements, and coordinate resolution across designated U.S. locations.

Description

  • Handle non-attorney soft tissue injury claims and related vehicle damage.
  • Verify coverage and determine whether claims are covered.
  • Investigate losses and establish legal liability.
  • Assess, negotiate, defend, and settle claims within assigned authority.
  • Record investigation findings, evaluations, negotiations, and settlement decisions.
  • Advise members and clarify what to expect next.
  • Provide attentive member service through timely communication, clear expectations, guidance, and compassion.
  • Assess, track, monitor, and manage risks tied to business activities.
  • Comply with written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Work with teammates to resolve issues and flag matters for escalation.
  • Coordinate with or oversee vendors and internal partners to resolve claims promptly.
  • Assist during workload peaks and catastrophe operations when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of injury or auto liability adjusting experience, including complex vehicle damage claims such as multi-vehicle incidents, non-owned vehicles, or total losses.
  • Working knowledge of auto claims contracts and the application of case law, state laws, and regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain an insurance adjuster license within 90 days, within the specified number of attempts.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration support; USAA does not sponsor visas.
  • Preferred: At least two years of auto liability or casualty adjusting experience, including complex or multi-vehicle liability claims.
  • Preferred: One year of auto physical damage or total loss experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in insurance.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Preferred: U.S. military experience, either through service or as the spouse or domestic partner of a service member.
  • Remote or hybrid flexibility may be available to spouses of active-duty military members, subject to policy and business needs.
