Senior/Lead Computer Vision Engineer at CarCutter - Hybrid France

Lead production computer vision and generative AI development for CarCutter’s automotive imagery platform. Own research, deployment, optimization, evaluation, and technical guidance across the AI lifecycle.

Description

  • Take computer vision and generative AI capabilities from initial research and prototypes through staging and production.
  • Benchmark modern computer vision and generative AI approaches against rigorous, real-world use cases.
  • Build and optimize production pipelines for inference speed, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Share technical knowledge, working practices, resources, and engineering standards with the team.
  • Partner with software engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver AI capabilities in customer-facing products.
  • Evaluate the maturity and commercial relevance of developments in computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI.
  • Help make technical choices that balance image quality, robustness, performance, and business constraints.
  • Document system architecture, model behavior, evaluation practices, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, and ongoing knowledge sharing to colleagues.
  • Contribute to research activities and the hiring process, including technical interviews, live coding assessments, and reference checks.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree or PhD in computer science, machine learning, computer vision, or a related discipline.
  • At least six years of industry experience in AI, machine learning, or computer vision.
  • Strong Python programming ability.
  • Advanced proficiency with PyTorch.
  • Practical experience in classical image and signal processing.
  • Experience developing deep learning perception models for segmentation, detection, and refinement.
  • Experience working with generative models, including diffusion architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to move AI systems into production, including deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to connect technical choices to business priorities and constraints.
  • A high level of ownership, autonomy, and pragmatic judgment.
  • A results-focused approach suited to a fast-moving, competitive environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
