Senior E-commerce Accountant — Latin America (Remote Contract)

Lead accounting operations for a connected fitness equipment company, covering AP, AR, month-end close, inventory, treasury support, and reporting. This remote contractor role supports U.S. operations and global logistics.

Description

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, inventory accounting, treasury support, and financial reporting.
  • Manage the complete NetSuite accounts payable cycle, from bill entry and coding through purchase order matching, approvals, payments, reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, payment runs, and remittance tracking.
  • Handle invoicing and cash application across direct-to-consumer, retail, and commercial sales channels.
  • Lead collections, resolve unapplied payments and credits, reconcile customer accounts, issue statements, and report accounts receivable aging.
  • Run the monthly close, including accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset and depreciation entries, recurring journals, balance-sheet reconciliations, and close documentation.
  • Review significant month-over-month variances, explain findings, and improve close procedures.
  • Record inventory receipts, match purchase orders with supplier invoices, investigate receiving differences, and allocate landed costs.
  • Accrue and reconcile customs and tariff liabilities while maintaining duty and tariff payment schedules.
  • Investigate inventory variances and assist with cycle counts and reserve analysis.
  • Prepare borrowing-base certificates and credit-facility reports, and monitor covenant compliance dates.
  • Support the rolling 13-week cash forecast and produce daily and weekly cash-position reports.
  • Administer expense reports, corporate card coding, vendor onboarding, finance records, master data, and standard operating procedures.
  • Report to the VP of Finance and work with U.S. vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • During the first 90 days, learn the systems and processes, assume ownership of AP and AR, lead the month-end close, prepare reconciliations and borrowing-base materials, and identify process improvements.

Requirements

  • At least five years of progressive accounting experience, including two or more years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full accounting cycle.
  • Direct ownership of a month-end close process.
  • Inventory accounting experience in a physical-products environment such as manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or e-commerce.
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience; Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or SAP Business One experience may also be considered.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to communicate directly with U.S. vendors and customers.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets capabilities, including lookups, pivot tables, large-file reconciliations, and complex workbooks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strongly preferred: experience with international imports, customs duties, tariffs, landed costs, and brokerage.
  • Strongly preferred: exposure to asset-based lending, borrowing-base certificates, eligibility testing, or covenant reporting.
  • Strongly preferred: multi-entity or multi-currency accounting and consolidation experience.
  • Strongly preferred: Shopify or other e-commerce accounting experience.
  • Strongly preferred: Contador Público or an equivalent local accounting qualification.
  • Strongly preferred: experience in a small or rapidly scaling company.
  • Availability for at least six hours of daily overlap with U.S. Central Time.
  • International independent contractor arrangement.
