Description

  • Deploy, operate, and maintain NICE’s global customer-hosted databases
  • Resolve customer issues that require direct access to database infrastructure
  • Administer the AWS console
  • Deploy databases and RDS services for new environments
  • Check AWS RDS database health and availability with CloudWatch and Performance Insights
  • Read and analyze database and error logs
  • Configure, monitor, and fine-tune alert thresholds
  • Perform RDS instance actions and compare configurations against Terraform code
  • Export and import PostgreSQL data and perform SQL Server backup and restore operations
  • Install and deploy databases, configuring backups, maintenance jobs, and features that support capacity, performance, and product functionality
  • Administer databases across currently supported versions
  • Restore data, install or remove patchsets and service packs, and perform edition upgrades or downgrades
  • Troubleshoot locking and corruption issues while implementing solutions with minimal downtime
  • Handle operational tasks such as database backups, application server health checks, and service recycling
  • Identify and resolve batch failures, network issues, client data feed errors, and other operational problems
  • Monitor server performance, memory, CPU, file systems, databases, batch jobs, and backup and restore processes
  • Prepare, review, test, and execute T-SQL and PowerShell database administration scripts
  • Investigate performance issues and implement tuning solutions
  • Create and expand documentation, share knowledge, and support global team members
  • Use database and infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Provide 24x7 production SaaS infrastructure support, including on-call and out-of-hours or weekend coverage
  • Report to the Manager, Infrastructure Cloud Operations, and collaborate with the Database Team to manage AWS Cloud databases

Requirements

  • Six to ten years of experience as a DBA managing multiple database engines
  • At least six years of relevant database administration experience
  • Hands-on experience with multiple PostgreSQL versions is required
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Aurora, or MySQL is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud and AWS RDS
  • Basic coding ability in PowerShell, Python, and Terraform
  • Understanding of automated AWS backups, historical backup schedules, and ad hoc snapshots
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, including incidents, service requests, and change management
  • Willingness to learn database and backup infrastructure technologies, including storage, backup systems, operating systems, automation tools, cloud solutions, and other database technologies
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships in a global, diverse, multicultural environment
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Ability to provide 24x7 production SaaS infrastructure support, including on-call and out-of-hours or weekend coverage
  • Ability to work remotely in Colombia
