Senior Business Development Manager, Technology and Communications – Sonepar (Remote)

Lead business development for Irby Utilities’ technology and communications offerings across Texas and Oklahoma. Shape market strategies, vendor partnerships, bids, and customer growth initiatives.

Description

  • Report to the Vice President of Sales for Communications and Technology.
  • Partner with executive leadership, district and branch managers, and sourcing teams to expand opportunities and improve sales performance.
  • Find and evaluate new target-market opportunities.
  • Support major project bids and blanket bid programs.
  • Deliver training programs across assigned core markets and regions.
  • Expand communications and technology services opportunities to support targeted growth and market stability.
  • Create sales strategies tailored to individual customers.
  • Grow sales in established service-provider markets through relationships with key customers, integrators, engineering firms, and other decision-makers.
  • Negotiate strategic vendor relationships that support market expansion.
  • Recommend inventory enhancements using business insights and product expertise.
  • Advise business leaders and provide central support for major project specifications and pricing.
  • Promote continuous improvement through regular training and mentoring.
  • Use stakeholder feedback to refine short- and long-term strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with local district and account managers to develop opportunities within electric utility accounts.
  • Build financial models for senior management and customer-level reporting.
  • Represent and promote the company with vendors, customers, and the broader community.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Experience serving as a liaison across departments and organizations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Preferred: At least seven years of experience in the service-provider or utility industry, especially telecommunications and broadband.
  • Preferred: Experience engaging commercially with installation contractors, engineering and consulting firms, and EPC organizations serving utility or service-provider markets.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated success growing sales in a business environment.
