Machine Learning Specialist, Device Analytics — Genetec (Hybrid, Canada)

Develop computer vision and on-device analytics models at Genetec, from research and experimentation through production deployment. Build and optimize real-time AI solutions for resource-constrained hardware.

Description

  • Design, train, and optimize deep neural networks for image classification, regression, detection, and re-identification
  • Build and refine architectures for real-time inference on resource-constrained devices
  • Assess requirements and select machine learning methods according to performance, compute, and hardware limitations
  • Support the complete development cycle, including data collection, annotation, training, evaluation, optimization, and integration
  • Create and enhance tools for model training, retraining, testing, and deployment
  • Review existing technologies, propose new methods, and integrate suitable components
  • Develop and validate proofs of concept and prototypes
  • Work with computer vision, machine learning, and software engineering specialists in a multidisciplinary team
  • Help advance Genetec’s on-device analytics products

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline, specializing in machine learning or supported by relevant experience
  • At least three years of practical deep learning experience
  • Strong ability in applied research, experimentation, and problem-solving
  • Ability to review scientific literature and apply emerging methods to practical challenges
  • Self-directed, technically curious, and proactive approach
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a small multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • Advanced Python proficiency
  • Experience with an object-oriented language such as C++, C#, or Java
  • Hands-on experience using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras
  • Good knowledge of Git and software development practices
  • Strong software engineering, analytical, and technical problem-solving capabilities
