Family Futures
Family Futures is a community-based nonprofit supporting parents and caregivers as children grow from pregnancy through age five. Its team provides home visits, developmental screenings, parenting education, safe-sleep supplies, and personalized Thrive-by-Five plans, while connecting families with local resources. Through partnerships with community agencies, volunteer opportunities, and training, Family Futures works to strengthen family resilience and support healthy child development.

Community Coordinator, Parent Café Programs

Coordinate Family Futures’ early childhood family support programs in Northern Kent County through Parent Cafés and community partnerships. Oversee coalition activity, grant planning and reporting, data collection, and program evaluation.

Tavsif

  • Plan and coordinate monthly Parent Cafés through the end of the grant year
  • Work with the Parent Café Coalition and Family Futures staff to set café dates, venues, and logistics
  • Assist with facilitation, prepare materials, and engage participants
  • Help plan future Parent Cafés, including themes, protective factors, one-on-one questions, commitment cards, and engagement activities
  • Reach out to community organizations to build support and partnerships
  • Convene the coalition at least once each quarter
  • Set timelines, define scopes of work and expectations, assign tasks, and establish systems and processes
  • Coordinate communication among schools, community partners, and coalition members
  • Collect and share data on program growth, participation, and demographic reach
  • Work with staff to align data for reporting and program evaluation
  • Attend required meetings through the Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage
  • Submit quarterly grant reports
  • Develop the grant workplan and ensure its completion
  • Lead the grant and oversee the Parent Café Coalition

Talablar

  • A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred, along with at least two years of family-facing work; equivalent formal and informal education and experience may demonstrate proficiency
  • Experience in community engagement, family support, education, or nonprofit work
  • Familiarity with Parent Café models, trauma-informed practice, or family-centered approaches is preferred
  • Ability to build relationships and work comfortably with families and community organizations
  • Event planning skills, timeline management, and ability to coordinate multiple partners
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage several projects at once
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Adaptability and initiative
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse communities
  • Schedule flexibility to meet family needs
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced setting
  • Willingness to learn early childhood systems and terminology
  • A personal vehicle may be required
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing about 25 pounds
  • A personal cell phone and internet access may be required
  • Availability for community events and meetings outside regular work hours may be required
