Senior Staff Payments Engineer – Remote in the United Kingdom
Lead the Payments squad at tem, an AI-native energy transaction infrastructure company. Shape payment architecture, improve processing efficiency, and scale the Billing and Payments Service.
Aprašymas
- Act as the founding technical lead for the new Payments squad within Saldo, tem’s Billing and Payments Service
- Take ownership of the squad’s delivery results and engineering practices
- Produce technical specifications and design documentation
- Review architecture decision records and pull requests
- Address complex technical challenges through code and improved workflows
- Guide the architectural direction of the payments service
- Establish the squad’s operating model while balancing delivery speed, quality, and resilience
- Increase payment accuracy and processing efficiency to lower processing costs
- Coordinate sequencing and dependencies across teams
- Identify throughput constraints and make the squad’s progress visible to stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers and partner with the senior engineer on challenging technical work
- Escalate promotion and hiring needs to the Service Manager and participate in people decisions
Reikalavimai
- Demonstrated experience leading a technical team and owning its delivery outcomes and standards
- Demonstrated ability to write design documentation, review pull requests and architecture decisions, solve problems hands-on, and establish technical direction
- Ability to combine hands-on contribution to major technical challenges with coaching for junior engineers
- Experience creating a team’s working practices from the ground up while managing speed, quality, and resilience
- Experience managing sequencing and dependencies between teams
- Experience identifying and diagnosing throughput issues
- Ability to establish technical direction in ambiguous situations
- Experience taking technical blockers through to resolution
- Payments systems experience is desirable
- Experience reducing processing costs or improving efficiency in a high-volume service is desirable
- Experience taking a service beyond its initial implementation is desirable
- Fluent spoken and written English
