Senior AI Engineer, Generative AI and Agentic Systems

Build and lead production generative AI and agentic systems for Avalon Healthcare Solutions’ diagnostic intelligence platform. Guide deployment, automation, evaluation, and technical direction.

Aprašymas

  • Design and deliver scalable AI solutions from initial concept through production.
  • Take ownership of complex AI features and projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Assess models and approaches, develop dependable pipelines and integrations, and uphold accuracy, performance, security, maintainability, scalability, and responsible use.
  • Lead AI initiatives across Product, Design, Data, business, and technical teams.
  • Help shape AI strategy, technical direction, architecture, and key architectural decisions.
  • Create agentic systems with multi-step and multi-agent workflows, tool and function calling, MCP servers and integrations, RAG pipelines, agent memory, and orchestration patterns.
  • Use prompt and context engineering techniques, including system prompts, structured outputs, few-shot examples, prompt chaining, and versioning.
  • Build and maintain workflow automations, preferably with n8n, and connect AI agents to enterprise systems, APIs, and data sources.
  • Set up evaluation, testing, observability, regression checks, guardrails, tracing, and monitoring for AI systems.
  • Review code, prompts, agent configurations, and workflows.
  • Write modular, reusable application code that works with SQL and vector data sources.
  • Create reusable prompt libraries, tool definitions, and workflow templates.
  • Advance AI-assisted development, continuous integration and deployment, automated testing, TDD, and evaluation-driven development.
  • Adhere to SDLC, quality, performance, audit, security, responsible AI, and data governance standards.
  • Find opportunities to improve health plan operations through AI and automation.
  • Deliver production-ready AI solutions with supporting documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Mentor colleagues and encourage AI best practices across the organization.

Reikalavimai

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant business and technical experience.
  • 8–10 years of application software development and implementation experience.
  • Practical experience building solutions with large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and AI tools.
  • Strong skills in Python, Rust, Go, and Node.js/TypeScript.
  • Working knowledge of Java and the JVM ecosystem.
  • Experience with LLM APIs and SDKs, such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or AWS Bedrock.
  • Experience with agent frameworks such as LangChain/LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar tools.
  • Expertise in prompt and agentic engineering, including tool use, MCP, RAG, structured outputs, reducing hallucinations, and improving reliability.
  • Experience building workflow automations with n8n or comparable platforms such as Make, Zapier, Temporal, or Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with Docker, AWS EC2, ECS/Fargate, and Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with vector databases and embedding stores such as pgvector, OpenSearch, or Pinecone.
  • Experience with REST, webhooks, event-driven architecture, APIs, microservices, SOA, SOAP/WSDL/XML, and SAML.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
  • A record of delivering high-quality solutions on schedule.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and influence technical direction.
  • Shows initiative and autonomy, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Takes ownership and accountability for maintainable, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Healthcare knowledge or experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AI security, safety, responsible AI, HIPAA, PHI, IIHI, privacy, and healthcare transactions is preferred.
