Senior Payroll Specialist

Lead multi-state payroll, benefits administration, tax filings, and compliance for Campus, an accredited two-year college delivering live online classes.

Description

  • Process accurate, timely, compliant payroll for all employees, including faculty.
  • Oversee multi-state payroll operations, audits, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Finance on payroll reporting, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Manage and refine payroll processes and workflows in Rippling.
  • Identify and address payroll challenges as the company grows.
  • Administer health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other employee benefits.
  • Work with brokers and vendors on benefits renewals and administration.
  • Prepare annual Form 1098-T reporting through Sovos.
  • Manage state income tax filings through Avalara.
  • Oversee state unemployment insurance accounts, wage reports, and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Support audits, reconciliations, reporting, and equity administration using Carta.
  • Report to the CFO and collaborate with Finance, People, brokers, vendors, and Student Financial Services.

Requirements

  • At least six years of hands-on payroll experience, including direct responsibility for full-cycle processing.
  • Strong payroll systems experience; Rippling is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement payroll operations improvements.
  • Experience administering employee benefits and working with brokers and vendors.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance; New York experience is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined operational practices.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced setting.
  • Already authorized to work in the United States without requiring new H-1B sponsorship.
