Senior Data Scientist - Europe Remote

Join Smallpdf as a Senior Data Scientist supporting experimentation, causal inference, predictive modeling, and growth analytics across its global digital document platform. Your work will inform product and marketing decisions through robust models and practical analysis.

Description

  • Lead complex analyses spanning acquisition, activation, conversion, monetization, and retention
  • Assess performance, attribution, and incrementality across SEO, paid search, CRM, and emerging marketing channels
  • Help teams measure the effects of marketing investment and make better-informed decisions
  • Work with Product and Growth teams to design A/B tests and evaluate results statistically
  • Use causal inference and quasi-experimental approaches when conventional experiments are unavailable
  • Build, validate, document, and maintain production-ready models with SQL, Python, and data transformation tools
  • Clarify performance drivers, question assumptions, and turn findings into specific recommendations
  • Investigate unexpected shifts in traffic, conversion, and customer behavior
  • Create analytical frameworks, predictive models, and data products
  • Partner with Product Managers, Growth specialists, engineers, and senior leaders
  • Turn unclear business questions into structured analyses with measurable outcomes
  • Report to the Head of Data while partnering with Growth and Product leadership

Requirements

  • Substantial applied Data Science or advanced analytics experience, preferably in SaaS, product-led growth, digital product, or marketing-led organizations
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling capability
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining dependable data models
  • Practical experience with dbt or comparable data transformation tools
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Ability to conduct statistical analyses, create predictive models, and deliver useful data products
  • Strong grounding in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference
  • Experience designing and assessing A/B tests
  • Background in Growth or Marketing Analytics
  • Understanding of acquisition channels, conversion funnels, attribution, incrementality, and customer behavior
  • Strong commercial awareness and product judgment
  • Ability to own the full analytical process, from raw data and modeling through interpretation and recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Curious, self-directed, and proactive approach
  • Experience in subscription or product-led growth businesses, including conversion, pricing, retention, or customer lifetime value, is a notable advantage
  • Experience with marketing incrementality, attribution modeling, Marketing Mix Modeling, or quasi-experimental methods is a notable advantage
  • Experience creating analytical frameworks or data products adopted by business teams is a notable advantage
  • Experience independently owning analytical projects and the supporting data models is a notable advantage
  • Proven ability to shape Product, Growth, or Marketing strategy through rigorous analysis and clear recommendations
  • Must reside in an eligible European location
  • Must be able to work without visa sponsorship
