Senior CloudOps Engineer at Learnosity (Hybrid, Ireland)

Build and operate Learnosity’s AWS infrastructure for AI-powered assessment products. Help support services used by more than 40 million learners worldwide.

Description

  • Design, maintain, and enhance secure, scalable, highly available AWS infrastructure for AI-powered products.
  • Apply AI tools to increase productivity and improve operational efficiency.
  • Tune system performance and investigate complex technical issues.
  • Deploy proactive monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Automate infrastructure releases and recurring operational work.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on product integration and delivery.
  • Continuously refine infrastructure and operational processes.
  • Develop and improve the platform while maintaining live production services.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure across five regions serving millions of learners.
  • Take ownership of production operations, incident response, and on-call duties.
  • Read and maintain legacy PHP services during migration work.
  • Enhance AI-agent tooling that uses production telemetry during live investigations.
  • After the first year, join the standard 24/7 on-call rotation of one week in four; benefits information describes the current rotation as typically one week every four to six weeks after onboarding and training.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience managing large-scale production systems, with a proven track record.
  • Three or more years developing solutions and improvements for large-scale systems.
  • Experience working in a global, distributed team.
  • Strong Python skills for scripting and automation.
  • Extensive experience with Docker and containerized applications and systems.
  • Proficiency with POSIX shell scripting, including awk, sed, and grep.
  • Strong Git version control skills.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions and Workflows.
  • Advanced Linux expertise covering iptables, systemd, logging, application management, diagnosis, and sysctl tuning.
  • Strong AWS experience with EC2, ALB/NLB, VPCs, IAM, RDS, ECS, Route53, and CloudFront.
  • Experience maintaining large-scale legacy systems and carrying out migrations.
  • Experience with large-scale databases and administration, ideally MariaDB and PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS.
  • Experience with monitoring and metrics platforms, ideally Datadog and CloudWatch.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP and routing protocols; this is a nice-to-have.
  • Experience tuning database performance and resolving performance issues; this is a nice-to-have.
  • Must have the right to live and work in Ireland.
