Description

  • Lead more than 40 finance professionals
  • Manage monthly close, reinsurance accounting and settlements, financial controls and reconciliations, and audit engagements
  • Advance initiatives and strategies led by the Sun Life Health Leadership team
  • Ensure acquisitions, partnerships, and integrations receive appropriate accounting treatment
  • Maintain effective financial systems and controls
  • Oversee the Canadian Dental Care Plan finance workstream, including planning, forecasting, and finance deliverables
  • Lead transformation across financial systems, data, and controls
  • Improve processes through automation and applicable AI solutions
  • Enable faster, well-controlled financial systems
  • Collaborate with Corporate and Canadian Finance to transform SLH accounting and control processes
  • Report to the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Sun Life Health

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering digital and process transformations
  • Proven ability to lead teams and organizations through change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • At least 10 years of progressive professional experience
  • Financial services or insurance industry experience is an asset
  • CPA or MBA designation together with a related university degree
  • Experience managing strategic initiatives or projects
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work across functions and business groups
  • Ability to understand the broader business context and manage complex deliverables
  • Ability to deliver results, improve workflows, and align work with outcomes
  • Ability to prioritize the needs of senior internal clients
  • Comfort working through ambiguity with resilience during change
  • Ability to adjust leadership approach to different situations and challenges
  • Strong collaboration, influencing, and talent optimization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent financial and business analytical abilities
  • Advanced process re-engineering skills and experience applying digital or AI tools to transformation
  • Oral and written fluency in French and English is required for Quebec positions
