Senior AI Engineer, Generative AI Platforms — Capital One, San Francisco (On-site)
Build scalable generative AI platforms for Capital One banking products, from foundation models to inference systems. Improve model performance, governance, and cloud infrastructure.
Opis
- Work with engineering, research, program, and product teams to deliver AI-powered products.
- Build and support AI components spanning foundation model training, LLM inference, agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
- Use open-source and SaaS AI tools such as AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, vector databases, and PyTorch.
- Develop foundation model optimizations that improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput.
- Shape the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems.
- Own architecture for complex AI systems, with a focus on maintainability, observability, and ethical alignment.
- Set and maintain AI reliability SLOs for latency, uptime, and model performance drift.
- Work with infrastructure engineers to improve GPU and TPU utilization and speed up inference pipelines.
- Lead deployment reviews to address security, data governance, and compliance.
- Mentor Principal and Senior Associates in scalable design, performance tuning, and moving research into production.
Zahteve
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and at least 4 years developing AI or ML algorithms or technologies; alternatively, a master's degree in one of these fields and at least 2 years of such experience.
- At least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
- Experience leading AI system development and making tradeoffs among cost, latency, throughput, and accuracy.
- At least 6 years deploying scalable, responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.
- Experience designing, developing, delivering, and supporting AI services.
- Experience developing AI or ML algorithms or technologies with Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang.
- Experience optimizing training and inference software for hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
- Experience building agentic AI systems and workflows.
- Proficiency designing distributed systems for model training, evaluation, and online inference at petabyte scale.
- Experience defining AI model governance processes, including producibility, lineage tracking, and automated retraining schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions across multiple AI product lines or platforms.
- Interest in tracking AI research and applying new techniques in production.
