Director of Product, Financial Crime — Remote United States
Lead Zepz’s global Financial Crime product strategy across AML, sanctions, and fraud for WorldRemit and Sendwave. Shape controls, regulatory performance, automation, risk decisions, and customer-focused growth.
Descriere
- Set Zepz’s global Financial Crime strategy for AML and sanctions, including the vision, OKRs, and roadmap
- Manage AML controls, sanctions screening, and typology analysis from end to end
- Contribute to planning the budget for third-party Financial Crime services
- Support growth through precise controls, informed risk-taking within Zepz’s risk appetite, and fewer false positives
- Own FinCrime KPIs and regulatory results, covering customer experience, fraud losses, detection precision, SAR timeliness, and audit findings
- Develop effective partnerships with internal stakeholders, external partners, vendors, regulators, auditors, and senior executives
- Work with Zepz’s nine regulators
- Lead the AML and screening Financial Crime domain
- Create and deliver a unified Financial Crime strategy connected to product, growth, and risk appetite
- Apply data and analysis to improve controls and minimise customer friction
- Prioritise initiatives according to customer outcomes, KPI contribution, and risk reduction
- Collaborate with leaders across Engineering, Product, Compliance, and Customer Operations
- Assess and manage third-party technology vendors, including quickly delivering proofs of concept
- Lead as a player-coach by driving cross-team initiatives while contributing directly as an individual contributor
Cerințe
- At least 10 years of leadership experience in Financial Crime, Fraud, or AML within fintech, payments, or financial services
- Analytical, data-oriented approach with confidence using metrics, dashboards, and machine-learning outputs to inform decisions
- In-depth knowledge of fraud prevention, AML/CFT frameworks, sanctions, and regulatory requirements including FCA, FinCEN, NBB, and FATF
- Able to establish credibility with regulators, auditors, and senior executives
- Communicates clearly and effectively
- Proven ability to lead transformation, automation, and control-maturity improvements across Financial Crime teams
- Empathetic, motivating leader who can develop senior managers and build a high-performance culture
- Experience incorporating AI/ML models into transaction monitoring, fraud detection, risk scoring, or behavioural analysis
- Previous leadership experience in a regulated remittance or crypto business
- Working knowledge of payments, cards, stablecoins, and ACH
- Established connections across Financial Crime industry groups, regulators, and law-enforcement partnerships
- Experience leading remediation or improvement programmes prompted by enforcement activity
- Genuine interest in applying AI to the work
- Practical professional experience using AI tools
- Strong AI literacy, including effective prompting and critical assessment of AI-generated content
- Understanding of ethical and responsible AI practices, particularly for sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance
