Powertrain Product Development Engineer, Pre-Program Strategy

Lead early powertrain program planning at Ford, from architecture and supplier strategies to investment approvals. Balance quality, cost, weight, function, and timing across vehicle programs.

Apraksts

  • Manage new powertrain projects, including internal combustion and power-split transmissions and power units.
  • Guide new powertrain architectures through unit approval and secure investment approvals.
  • Set strategies for complexity and carryover content, and for in-house production versus full-service suppliers.
  • Improve program execution, quality, and speed through process changes.
  • Prepare early manufacturing studies and make-or-buy business cases.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing plants to align program content with footprint allocations.
  • Set cost targets that support program objectives.
  • Work with purchasing teams and suppliers to optimize component design for cost, weight, and function.
  • Manage GPDS program gateways and deliverables across design, sourcing, and prototypes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional project teams.
  • Estimate and review costs and schedules for purchased and internally built units.
  • Track milestone deliverables and support engineering change control and global coordination.
  • Follow program deliverables and issues through resolution, including on the plant floor.
  • Maintain program review presentations, cost trackers, and program checkbooks.
  • Advance propulsion solutions, monitor trends, and contribute to technology roadmaps.

Prasības

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of transmission or power unit development experience.
  • At least 2 years of program management experience.
  • Experience preparing cost studies and comparing costs across powertrain designs.
  • Demonstrated delivery of balanced quality, cost, weight, function, and timing attributes for components or subsystems.
  • Formal knowledge of systems engineering.
  • Experience developing bill of materials structures.
  • Experience working with full-service suppliers.
  • Experience working with powertrain manufacturing during early development.
  • Experience working with powertrain planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Visa sponsorship is unavailable.
