Tax Accountant

Support tax compliance for Toyota Financial Services UK subsidiaries, including corporation tax, VAT returns and finance project reporting.

Description

  • Support the Tax Manager with tax matters for selected UK subsidiaries.
  • Prepare IFRS tax accounts covering current and deferred corporation tax for financial statements.
  • Compile corporation tax figures for half-year and annual reporting to Japan through CONETS.
  • Prepare corporation tax returns in Alphatax and submit annual returns to HMRC.
  • Work with external advisers on international tax compliance, including the BEPS initiative.
  • Assist with transfer pricing compliance.
  • Track Group Relief claims and surrenders, and manage related loss payments between entities.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
  • Support PAYE Settlement Agreement claims and incentive scheme reporting.
  • Maintain the Senior Accounting Officer compliance process and tax procedures.
  • Establish tax processes for new entities with guidance from the Tax Manager.
  • Assist with CONETS preparation.
  • Provide cover for treasury accounting.
  • Contribute to project work.
  • Carry out other suitable duties as directed by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of VAT and experience preparing VAT returns.
  • Experience with partial exemption.
  • Working knowledge of corporation tax.
  • Background in corporate and deferred tax accounting.
  • Experience establishing tax arrangements for acquisitions is desirable.
  • Experience in tax compliance or advisory work in a commercial setting, HMRC or professional practice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Alphatax is an advantage.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including confidence presenting.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and external partners.
