Description

  • Define technical strategy, guide build-versus-buy decisions, establish architecture, and maintain the technical roadmap with product leaders.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into scoped initiatives, surface risks, sequence deliverables, and align teams around execution.
  • Build and ship scalable data pipelines, resilient services, and high-performance production systems.
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Assess and productionize AI/ML capabilities such as large language models, embeddings, and classification models.
  • Drive cross-functional technical programs, RFCs, architecture reviews, and agreement on major engineering decisions.
  • Take ownership of systems from initial requirements through release and ongoing production operations.
  • Track SLOs and SLIs, resolve production incidents, and strengthen system reliability.
  • Improve engineering quality through reviews, mentoring, technical documentation, and sound modeling practices.
  • Work effectively in unfamiliar codebases, break down complex problems, make incremental progress, and explain trade-offs during technical interviews.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated strength in Python, the primary backend language.
  • Professional production experience delivering software in at least two programming languages.
  • Experience designing and owning production systems used by real customers at scale.
  • A history of making significant architectural decisions and being accountable for their outcomes.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across teams without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong system design judgment across failure handling, data movement, scalability, and operating cost.
  • Advanced operational and DevOps experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Evidence of mentoring engineers and improving engineering standards across a team.
  • Experience with large-scale migrations or platform rewrites is preferred.
  • Practical AI/ML experience in production, including LLMs, BERT, NLP pipelines, or document-understanding systems, is preferred.
  • Experience establishing engineering-wide standards, practices, or tooling is preferred.
  • Experience building content processing, enrichment, or search systems at scale is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Java is preferred.
  • Experience with GitOps, ArgoCD, or infrastructure as code is preferred.
  • Regular use of AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering work is preferred.
