Senior Apps Development Group Manager, Director – Citi Hybrid

Description

  • Lead and develop multiple professional teams against defined business goals
  • Handle performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions, and other people-management responsibilities
  • Ensure teams consistently follow established processes and engineering best practices
  • Shape the team’s vision, operating model, responsibilities, and organizational structure
  • Deliver recurring team and project reviews to senior management and business stakeholders
  • Direct system architecture and application development
  • Partner with end users to improve solution quality and delivery outcomes
  • Maintain compliance with Citi policies, procedures, desktop procedures, and documentation standards
  • Oversee delivery approaches, outcomes, budgets, planning, policy development, and long-term strategy
  • Control change processes, documentation, approvals, and implementation for regulatory reporting
  • Investigate and resolve issues, recommend solutions, and escalate matters to senior leadership
  • Own disaster recovery planning, testing oversight, and permit-to-operate approval for new applications
  • Run local staff forums and communicate global, regional, and location-specific updates
  • Establish and implement department-wide processes and engineering best practices
  • Manage risk and compliance while promoting transparency, supervising activity, and reinforcing accountability

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of progressive software engineering and technology leadership experience
  • 8–10 or more years managing people and engineering organizations directly
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Engineering management experience with complex business products while remaining technically engaged
  • Extensive background with financial products and payment systems
  • Working knowledge of financial services markets and competing products and services
  • Advanced capability in code review and technical quality assurance
  • Advanced Java expertise, including modern Java frameworks
  • Strong experience designing and implementing microservices architectures
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including Kafka
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications
  • Proficiency in API design and integration patterns
  • Deep knowledge of software development lifecycles, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience assessing and adopting modern and emerging technology stacks
  • Proficiency with computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and contemporary software development practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related equivalent background
