Remote Multispecialty Coding Auditor and Educator

Remote Minnesota role auditing medical documentation and coding for Revo Health. Provides coding education, team development, compliance support, and quality oversight across multiple specialties.

Description

  • Maintain consistent quality in evaluation and management, office procedure, and surgical coding education.
  • Train and develop new and existing remote and on-site coding team members.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to evaluate training comprehension.
  • Deliver ongoing training informed by internal and external audit results.
  • Act as the clinical coding subject matter expert.
  • Investigate documentation concerns through research and consultation with clinical staff, coding leadership, and Coding Specialists.
  • Review coder accuracy against provider documentation for ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes across clinic, outpatient, and hospital services.
  • Evaluate providers’ selection of medical decision-making levels for office visits.
  • Audit complex surgical cases and record the findings.
  • Provide guidance and education to Coding Specialists, Patient Financial Services, providers, and clinical staff.
  • Oversee the Revo Coding Education Email and Education WQs.
  • Research coding questions from providers, Coding Specialists, Patient Financial Services, and coding leadership.
  • Share annual CMS, AMA, and coding guideline updates.
  • Communicate payer updates, policy changes, requirements, and documentation concerns.
  • Complete annual reviews of internal coding policies.
  • Develop assigned workflows and processes.
  • Support Coding Specialists with coding queries and appeal letters.
  • Help Patient Financial Services investigate coding denials.
  • Create coding curricula and training resources.
  • Participate in or coordinate coder meetings.
  • Lead coding training sessions.
  • Orient new providers to documentation requirements.
  • Code assigned providers according to department needs.
  • Complete continuing education to maintain coding proficiency and certification requirements.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • CPMA certification is required or must be earned within six months of hire.
  • CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA certification, or completion of a coding program with a certificate or diploma, is strongly preferred.
  • At least three years of medical coding experience or related medical-field experience is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and body systems, physiology, and disease processes.
  • Availability to support the coding department during core business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods, including up to eight or more hours daily.
  • Frequent hand and finger use for typing, writing, and document handling.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Visual ability to read electronic and paper documents.
  • Auditory ability to participate clearly in phone and video calls.
  • Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, practices, business ethics, and applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, and employment laws.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage interruptions, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Respectful and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to use logical reasoning to define problems, establish facts, and reach valid conclusions.
  • New hires must obtain CPMA certification within six months of hire.
