Remote Bookkeeper – Australian Accounts

Remote bookkeeping role supporting an IT services provider with accounts payable, receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and Australian GST/BAS processes. The position also covers inventory records, asset tracking, and month-end accounting support.

Description

  • Oversee daily bookkeeping tasks and financial transactions
  • Handle supplier invoices, verify purchase-order matching, update vendor records, and prepare payments for approval
  • Create and distribute customer invoices, apply incoming payments, monitor receivables, and pursue overdue balances
  • Reconcile customer accounts and research any variances
  • Complete routine bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Resolve outstanding unreconciled items and keep financial records accurate
  • Support month-end bookkeeping and account reconciliation activities
  • Help manage stock and inventory records, including purchases and movements
  • Compare inventory data with supplier invoices and internal records
  • Maintain records of IT equipment, hardware, and other business assets as needed
  • Process employee and business expenses with complete supporting documentation
  • Help compile financial information for management review
  • Keep invoices, receipts, and other financial documents organised digitally
  • Coordinate with accountants, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders
  • Support GST and BAS bookkeeping and provide relevant records to the accountant or finance team
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end accounting processes

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounts Officer, or Finance Officer
  • Practical expertise in accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Solid experience handling bank reconciliations and invoicing
  • Sound knowledge of core bookkeeping practices
  • Experience with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or comparable accounting software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Consistent accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Effective organisation and time management
  • Capacity to manage multiple invoices, payments, and deadlines
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Professional integrity and discretion when handling financial data
  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience with an Australian company is preferred
  • Knowledge of Australian GST, BAS, and general accounting practices is preferred
  • Experience in an MSP, IT services firm, or technology business is preferred
  • Experience managing recurring customer invoices or managed-service contracts is preferred
  • Experience processing invoices for IT hardware, software licences, subscriptions, or managed services is preferred
  • Basic experience reconciling stock, inventory, or IT assets is preferred
