Innovation Manager – Nova Lima, Brazil (Onsite)
Lead regional digital innovation and Industry 4.0 initiatives at AngloGold Ashanti, a global gold-mining company. Develop technologies that support mine operations, workplace safety, and ESG objectives.
Description
- Own the Innovation and Industry 4.0 roadmap for mining and processing operations
- Guide integration between corporate platforms, automation systems, and operational technologies
- Manage concurrent innovation initiatives across Latin American countries
- Maintain technology standards while meeting local logistics and regulatory requirements
- Define operational safety technology standards covering teleremote systems, autonomous operations, excavation monitoring, and personnel tracking
- Build partnerships with startups, universities, research institutions, and technology providers
- Advance technologies for energy efficiency, water stewardship, and decarbonization
- Promote agile practices, continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, proof-of-concept work, and use of Brazil’s Lei do Bem tax incentive
- Link the company to the global innovation ecosystem and obtain funding through Lei do Bem
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, such as Mining, Metallurgical, Control, Maintenance, Automation, or Computer Engineering, or in Information Technology
- Postgraduate degree, MBA, or specialization in Innovation, Project Management, or a related discipline
- Significant professional experience in the mining sector
- Deep understanding of operational differences between open-pit and underground mining
- Strong expertise in digital transformation
- Knowledge of agile methodologies
- Knowledge of data analysis, including Big Data and Analytics
- Knowledge of fleet automation
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in English and Spanish
- Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently within the country and internationally
- Fluency in English, experience in industrial plants and both open-pit and underground mines, ability to structure ideas and create executive presentations, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated ability to integrate disciplines and negotiate across global and operational teams
