Fluids Operations Integration and Systems Engineer III

Lead systems engineering for Fluids operations, testing, and launch support for Blue Origin’s reusable New Glenn rocket. Define subsystem constraints, requirements, CONOPS, and verification strategies.

Description

  • Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads with systems engineering activities aligned with Blue Origin standards and practices.
  • Develop and execute verification plans and strategies.
  • Write, decompose, analyze, trace, and verify requirements.
  • Negotiate interfaces and coordinate with internal and external customers.
  • Create operations documentation covering product testing, operational lifecycles, maintenance needs, and critical system interfaces.
  • Define operational constraints that enable safe end-to-end handling and reliable subsystem performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed CONOPS for pre-launch and flight operations.
  • Work with integrated test, launch operations, and autonomous flight operations teams to incorporate constraints into procedures and flight plans.
  • Provide real-time console engineering support during integrated tests, launches, and recovery operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues during operations.
  • Analyze Fluids subsystem data and perform post-flight data reviews.
  • Act as the subsystem authority for CONOPS, functional architecture, components, software, and integrated interactions.
  • Track component hardware, autonomous software, and integrated development testing.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into integrated subsystem operations for the flight vehicle.
  • Partner with the stage-level Vehicle Operations Integration lead.
  • Establish constraints, alerts, and limits for integrated testing and launch teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or another technical engineering field.
  • At least five years of current hands-on technical experience with Fluids, Thermal, Propulsion, Cryogenics, or Pneumatic systems.
  • Hands-on experience in analysis, design, testing, or launch operations.
  • Practical experience developing, documenting, and executing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles.
  • Ability to work effectively under time pressure while requirements and evaluation criteria remain partially defined or evolving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and lead through influence.
  • Systems engineering experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other highly regulated systems.
  • Experience creating and using engineering requirements.
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and advance work in ambiguous environments.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
  • Successful completion of Blue Origin’s standard background check.
  • Preferred: Experience as a launch vehicle controller.
  • Preferred: Experience with system safety products and processes.
  • Preferred: Systems engineering and integration experience, preferably involving aerospace hardware.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of contemporary systems engineering processes and methodologies.
  • Preferred: Experience with DOORS Next Generation or comparable requirements management software.
  • Preferred: Experience conducting reliability, maintainability, and operability analysis.
  • Preferred: Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
