Data Analyst 3, Merchandising Customer Insights – Seattle Hybrid

Analyze merchandising and customer data with SQL, Python or R, and statistical methods at Nordstrom. Build dashboards, develop recommendations, and communicate insights to retail stakeholders and executives.

Description

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define success measures and build measurement frameworks
  • Investigate complex business questions and assess merchandising performance through hypothesis testing
  • Create analytical deliverables, including analyses, dashboards, insights, and recommendations
  • Present findings to stakeholders and executives while promoting effective use of analytics
  • Develop and implement new metrics
  • Use data to identify strategic opportunities and improve business performance
  • Produce high-quality solutions and recommendations independently and in collaboration with others
  • Explain findings through clear, purposeful data storytelling for audiences with varying technical expertise
  • Balance competing stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Coach junior team members in analytics, storytelling, and communication practices
  • Help shape analytics Center of Excellence standards and best practices
  • Use advanced analytical and statistical methods to generate actionable insights

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of professional experience analyzing complex data, drawing conclusions, and developing recommendations
  • At least three years of experience extracting and transforming large datasets from relational databases with SQL; BigQuery experience is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including independently managing ambiguous projects and prioritizing work
  • Strong programming ability in at least one statistical or programming language; R or Python is preferred
  • Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods such as regression, classification, or clustering
  • Proficiency with visualization tools such as Shiny, ggplot, matplotlib, or Tableau
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing organization
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
