Analytics Engineer at Tucows - Remote Canada

Description
- Create and maintain complex Snowflake data models
- Develop efficient dbt pipelines and transformations
- Deliver conversational data queries and AI-powered insights with Snowflake Intelligence, including Cortex Analyst, Cortex Agents, Cortex Search, and AISQL
- Write advanced SQL queries and examine large datasets for patterns, trends, and opportunities
- Build, maintain, and optimize Looker dashboards and LookML
- Help stakeholders explore data through natural-language queries
- Partner with product, engineering, business, and other teams on data-driven solutions
- Identify practical applications for AI, machine learning, and natural language processing
- Use Python for data analysis, processing, and automation
- Support data workflows with shell scripts and command-line tools
- Integrate tested code into automated processes, including Airflow scheduling
- Prepare visualizations and presentations for senior leaders and cross-functional teams
- Keep current with developments in data engineering, analytics, dbt, Snowflake, and business intelligence
- Advance the analytics stack, data practices, and data culture
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related discipline
- At least two years of experience in data analytics or a related area
- Substantial exposure to applying artificial intelligence and machine learning in analytics
- Advanced SQL expertise, including complex queries against large datasets
- Practical dbt experience building, testing, and documenting data models
- Expertise in data modeling and data warehouse principles
- Experience with Snowflake and awareness of its advanced AI capabilities
- Strong Looker and LookML skills, or comparable business intelligence experience
- Proficiency in Python, including pandas and NumPy
- Experience using shell scripts and command-line tools
- Familiarity with ETL, Apache Airflow or comparable orchestration tools, and Docker
- Experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Sound knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices
- Familiarity with agile development methods
- Strong communication, presentation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience collaborating across functions and converting business needs into technical solutions
- Experience applying data governance practices and maintaining data quality and consistency
- Knowledge of data ethics, bias reduction, and privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA
