AI Engineer – CACI International – Denver Onsite

Build and deploy RAG, conversational AI, and multi-agent applications for CACI International’s federal programs. Rotate across engagements to operationalize solutions, train delivery teams, and transfer AI expertise.

Description

  • Deliver production-ready AI solutions during 1–2-month rotations, including mission-aligned RAG pipelines, conversational platforms, and multi-agent systems
  • Develop and tailor AI applications with vector databases, orchestration frameworks, and managed AI services
  • Add observability, security controls, cost management, and responsible AI safeguards to deployed solutions
  • Connect LLM APIs and AI services with established workflows across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Set up monitoring and alerting while diagnosing and resolving integration problems
  • Provide hands-on training, produce technical documentation, and collaborate through pair programming
  • Complete structured handoffs and validation so teams can operate and enhance AI applications independently
  • Refine existing solution templates and develop reusable implementation patterns from field experience
  • Assess emerging generative AI tools for federal use cases and share findings through demonstrations and documentation

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience building production applications with Python or JavaScript, Git workflows, and modern development practices
  • Hands-on experience with LLM applications, agent patterns, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, vector databases, and observability
  • Ability to track AI latency, cost, and quality, troubleshoot failure modes, and apply responsible AI measures such as bias detection and guardrails
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting RESTful and event-driven integrations
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; containers; CI/CD; infrastructure as code; and secure API and key management
  • Working knowledge of foundational machine learning concepts and their use in LLM systems
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quickly in unfamiliar environments with changing requirements
  • Strong communication skills, including documenting and teaching complex AI concepts
  • Ability to weigh trade-offs under pressure, prioritize usable solutions, and apply reusable templates
  • Active use of current AI tools through experimentation and community engagement
  • Experience with GitLab, Jira, and iterative delivery methods
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance
  • Experience deploying agentic AI systems and using observability tools, vector databases, guardrails, embeddings, and structured outputs
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock or GovCloud, Azure OpenAI, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python for front-end and back-end development, with frameworks such as React or FastAPI
  • Experience leading client engagements, switching between projects, and delivering knowledge transfer
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense or federal missions, security requirements, and frameworks such as ATO and NIST
  • Open-source contributions, technical writing, conference speaking, or comparable community involvement
  • Security+, AWS certifications, or other relevant technical credentials
